Depth of Field

It's another drawn comic. I need to photograph it (I don't have a scanner). I'll post it tonight. It's also given me the idea for a coffee mug design. I'll set that up in Cafe Press as soon as I get the mug design done.

"What about the main story?" you ask. Well . . . I'm working on that. I'll post some of the (very) preliminary character designs. They have evolved since I created the preliminaries, but I want to share some of my early thoughts.

First off, I don't have space to set up a photo studio. I love making a photo comic, but I just can't. No room.

Second, I can't draw. Not really. Although I am practicing.

In the end, I'm going to make this a 3D rendered comic. Not high end renders. No. I want to maintain the "icon-like" look and feel of the comic. As such the characters are going to be simple. Simple isn't always easy though. Here is one of the first tests:

I don't like this head for a number of reasons. For one, the forehead is so much wider than any other part of the head. It's back to the drawing board (har!), but I am making progress.

I am actually working on new strips. Yes! Really!

It is going to be a few weeks before you see one, but new strips are in the works. Really!

It's been months since I last updated. Maybe. I don't actually remember.

School took far more time this quarter than I expected. Work required far more hours than expected. As a result, I haven't made many comics lately. I want to make comics, but I just don't have the time. In December, I hope to make a few. The trick is that I'm going to be forced to move in December. I had not expected that. The process of packing, finding a new place, and then moving will absorb what free time I had planned for the comic. Such is life.

Please accept my deepest appologies over this long silence, and keep in faith that I will return to make more comics.
